I still remember my first bluefin tuna, that I caught when I was 19, I remember the feeling of the adrenaline rushing through my veins, the pure joy I felt, seeing the monster fish as it surfaced, and of course, the ache in my body I felt the following morning. I can’t recall my first time fishing, I started so young, accompanying my father on his trips. I have been fishing ever since, my whole life. I have been on the sea for so long that I can almost see the bottom like a map. Fishing in Mallorca is very much part of our culture. My father was an angler, and his father before him, so I never really took it up as a hobby, it is more like a way of life for me. I love all kinds of fishing, not just big game, but nothing excites me more than hearing one of my Shimano Tiagra 80s scream when a tuna strikes. The sound of a tuna tearing line off of the reel at 80km/h is my favourite sound in the world.
